How Bohurupi overtook Eken
When BMR wrote the week-one verdict on 22 October, The Eken was ahead by a hair: ₹5.68 crore against ₹5.61 crore for Bohurupi. The next day’s figures flipped it. On Day 8 (Thursday 22 October) Bohurupi took ₹70 lakh to Eken’s ₹62 lakh, which put it ahead on the running total, ₹6.31 crore to ₹6.30 crore. It has stayed ahead since and the gap is now ₹70 lakh.
The reason is the second week. From Day 9 to Day 14, Bohurupi’s daily figure stayed above Eken’s every day, and on Day 10 it still made ₹52 lakh. On the first weekend of week three, Saturday 31 October brought ₹22 lakh against ₹16 lakh for Eken, and Sunday 1 November brought ₹33 lakh against ₹21 lakh. That Sunday figure is Bohurupi’s best day since Day 10.

Film by film after two weeks
Bohurupi: The Golden Daku: the leader
₹8.87 crore net and ₹9.99 crore gross after 18 days. Critics score it highest of the four, 3.5 out of 5 from 13 reviews. A Windows Production film from Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, with Jisshu Sengupta as the cop and Shiboprosad Mukherjee as the Golden Daku. It opened lowest of the three bigger films at ₹34 lakh and built through the first week, hitting ₹1.09 crore on Day 5, which is why its week 2 held up. Against the original Bohurupi (2024), which BMR shows with ₹4.20 crore in week one and ₹14.16 crore overall, the sequel had the bigger first week (₹5.61 crore) but has not matched the first film’s total: it would need about ₹5.3 crore more, while it is now making ₹13 to 33 lakh a day.
The Eken: Kerala-e-Kurukshetra: week-one leader, second now
₹8.17 crore net and ₹8.86 crore gross. It had the better start of the two, ₹50 lakh opening and ₹5.68 crore in week one, then fell harder in week two (₹1.94 crore). Critics give it 3.3 out of 5 from 12 reviews. The hoichoi Studios film stars Anirban Chakrabarti as Eken Babu with Raima Sen. Its Day 18 figure was ₹21 lakh.
DeSu7: biggest opening, steepest fall
₹6.20 crore net and ₹6.84 crore gross after 17 days. Dev’s directorial debut with Subhashree Ganguly and Anirban Bhattacharya had the biggest opening day of the four (₹75 lakh) and the strongest first three days, but week two fell about 75%, to ₹1.17 crore. Critics average 2.4 out of 5. No budget has been reported, so BMR does not call it a hit or a flop; the DeSu7 hit or flop explainer sets out what is known and what is not.
Emperor vs Sarat Chandra: the critics’ film with the smallest audience
₹1.54 crore net and ₹1.79 crore gross. Srijit Mukherji’s film with Tota Roy Choudhury as Sarat Chandra and Abir Chatterjee has a 3.3 out of 5 critics score from 15 reviews, but a ₹10 lakh opening and ₹4 lakh on Day 18. Read the real history behind the film for what it gets right and what it changes.
What week two tells us
- Critics’ scores and money did not line up neatly. Emperor vs Sarat Chandra scores 3.3 from 15 reviews, level with Eken, yet has earned less than a fifth of Eken’s money. Bohurupi’s lead is a story about holding on, not opening big.
- The biggest opening did not win. DeSu7 opened ahead of all three and is third. Big first days did not predict the second week.
- Combined, the Puja slate is at about ₹24.78 crore net. All four films are now earning under ₹35 lakh a day, so week three is likely to add far less than week two did.
What to watch next
- Week three totals (Day 15 to 21), which close on Wednesday 4 November for the films that opened on 15 October. The day-wise page updates itself.
- Whether Eken closes the ₹70 lakh gap. It would need to beat Bohurupi by that margin over the remaining weeks, which its current daily figures do not suggest.
- Streaming dates. As of 2 November we have not found an announced OTT date for any of the four films.
