For a Dev–Subhashree film supported by a broad collection of critic reviews, start with Dhumketu. BMR’s current collection gives the Kaushik Ganguly film 3.5 out of 5 from ten reviews. If you want the beginning of their screen partnership, choose Challenge; if you want their latest reunion, compare the more divided response to DeSu7 before booking.
There is more than one reason to revisit this pair. Their earlier films offer youthful romance, songs and commercial-film energy, while Dhumketu asks them to carry a more emotional drama. DeSu7 brings their shared history into a new action vehicle. This guide covers their seven feature collaborations through 2026, without pretending that every older film has the same depth of critic coverage.
Explore Dev’s filmography and Subhashree Ganguly’s filmography for their separate careers.
Which Dev–Subhashree movie should you watch first?
- For an emotional drama with substantial review coverage: Dhumketu.
- For their first film together: Challenge.
- For a romance-and-music watchlist: consider Paran Jai Jaliya Re, Romeo and Khokababu, with the older-film coverage gaps below in mind.
- For the current action release: DeSu7, whose collected reviews are noticeably more mixed.
All seven Dev and Subhashree movies together, in release order
| Film | Year | Director | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Challenge | 2009 | Raj Chakraborty | Their first feature together; action and romance. |
| Paran Jai Jaliya Re | 2009 | Rabi Kinagi | A romantic follow-up to their debut pairing. |
| Romeo | 2011 | Sujit Mondal | A romance-and-music choice from their early run. |
| Khokababu | 2012 | D. Shankar Aiyya | Comedy, action and the Amay Ador Kor song sequence. |
| Khoka 420 | 2013 | Rajiv Kumar Biswas | An ensemble entertainer that also stars Nusrat Jahan. |
| Dhumketu | 2025 | Kaushik Ganguly | The long-delayed emotional drama. |
| DeSu7 | 2026 | Dev | The seventh feature pairing, with Anirban Bhattacharya. |
The years above are release years. Dhumketu was filmed much earlier than its 2025 release, so release order and the order in which the pair worked together are different.
Dhumketu: the strongest critic-backed starting point in this collection

The collected reviews repeatedly return to the leads’ chemistry, the story’s emotional pull and Rudranil Ghosh’s contribution. Agnivo Niyogi’s Telegraph review finds that the chemistry and screenplay help the film, while Poorna Banerjee’s Times of India review finds the flashback structure uneven. The praise is substantial, but it is not unanimous: Tom Thrush’s much less enthusiastic video gives the collection a clear dissenting voice.
That balance makes Dhumketu the useful first recommendation for viewers who want performance and feeling alongside the familiar pair. Go in expecting a relationship-centred drama; the critics do not all agree about the pace, construction or ending. Read every Dhumketu review and the current BMR score before deciding whether those reservations matter to you.

Challenge: where the DeSu story began

Raj Chakraborty’s action romance introduces Dev as Abir opposite Subhashree’s Pooja, with her father’s resistance driving the conflict. It is the natural historical starting point for a DeSu watchlist. BMR currently has one collected Times of India review by Roshni Mukherjee, rated 3 out of 5. That is an early read, not enough evidence to declare a critic-consensus winner over the later films.

DeSu7: the latest reunion comes with divided reviews

DeSu7’s attraction is easy to understand: the returning pair, Dev’s star presence and Anirban’s stylised performance. The disagreement is over how well the film’s different narrative strands come together. The collected reviews include supportive notices as well as sharp criticism of the screenplay, so the reunion itself should not be treated as a guarantee that every viewer will enjoy the film.

Where do Romeo, Khokababu and the other earlier films fit?
Paran Jai Jaliya Re, Romeo, Khokababu and Khoka 420 belong in a complete watchlist even where BMR has not yet assembled a comparable review collection. They let you trace the pair’s early commercial-film phase between Challenge and the much later release of Dhumketu. This guide includes them for that viewing context, rather than attaching invented scores to fill the gaps.
For the romantic side of the pairing, revisit Eskay Music’s official Amay Ador Kor video from Khokababu. Treat a favourite song or screen moment as a reason to explore a film, rather than as proof of its overall critical standing.

How this guide uses critic reviews
This is a guide to films the two actors appeared in together, with editorial viewing suggestions alongside BMR’s collected reviews. The review snapshot was checked on 20 October 2026. The linked score badges and film pages update as the review collection grows. A formal critic ranking needs at least five collected reviews: a one-review “early read” is useful evidence, but it is not a consensus. Published critic ratings and labelled BMR estimates remain distinct; audience and IMDb ratings are not mixed into the critic score.
