The short version
In 2019 actor Ankush Hazra gave an interview on the YouTube channel Aritra’s Gyan. Some remarks were widely trolled. YouTuber Kiran Dutta, The Bong Guy, posted a roast, Ankush replied publicly, and the two exchanged posts for a while before it subsided.
Timeline
- 2019, the interview: Ankush appears on Adda with Aritra, Episode 10 Part 1, which has more than half a million views on YouTube. In interviews he was reported to have said he placed around 100th in an engineering entrance exam and that he turned down a role in Laal Singh Chaddha because it is a remake and he did not want a remake as his Bollywood debut (Asianet News Bangla). Sources differ on the rank, so we treat it as unconfirmed.
- Around 13 August 2019, the roast: The Bong Guy posts a video listing films he described as remakes or copies, and uses a slang phrase that Ankush and others took as a jibe (Asianet News Bangla). He later said he meant something else.
- Ankush replies: he says content creators earn by mocking others on camera, asks Kiran not to “kick their stomachs”, and notes YouTube has given many people a livelihood. He also posted counter-tweets.
- The Bong Guy’s reply video: “What Actually Happened Between Me and Ankush Hazra | My Final Reply”, with more than nine million views, links the original interview and his posts in its description (video).
- Aritra’s Gyan videos: the channel posted “Ankush vs The Bong Guy | My Reaction”, “My Reply to Ankush’s Tweet” and later “Bong Guy Ankush Eksathe Cinema Korche???” (reaction, reply, later video). We could not read what is said in them.
- Afterwards: in a later interview Ankush said content creation does not require belittling anyone or their profession; Kiran said he had not belittled anyone and meant only to roast the remarks. The debate subsided (Asianet News Bangla, 1 September 2020).
- March 2025: The Wall reported Kiran had been set to appear in Ankush’s comedy Nari Choritro Bejay Jotil and then left, citing other commitments and the role. It carries no statement from Ankush or the producers.
