Everything below is an allegation or a denial reported by named outlets; none is a court finding. Facts are from reports available on 20 October 2026.

What she alleged

In 2023 actor Swastika Mukherjee filed a police complaint at Golf Green police station in Kolkata. She alleged she received threatening emails from a co-producer of the film Shibpur. According to a police official quoted by PTI, the emails reportedly said that unless she cooperated, morphed images would be leaked to pornography websites. She skipped the film’s trailer launch (SheThePeople, Udayavani/PTI).

What was denied

The co-producer’s legal representative denied his involvement and said the actor acted after being instigated by the director. The director, Arindam Bhattacharya, responded that this was a lie; he had earlier said creative disagreements are bound to happen in any field. Producers reportedly filed a case against the director alleging he extorted money and threatened a producer.

What is not decided

We found no report of a court outcome or a police finding on either side’s allegations.

A separate 2021 matter

Wikipedia reports that an FIR was registered over social media posts after the 2021 election results, concerning a post by Parambrata Chatterjee and a reply by Swastika Mukherjee, with the FIR alleging incitement. We did not find the outcome.
