Facts below are taken from published reports available on 21 October 2026. We report what outlets and records say, attribute it, and mark what we could not verify. We do not state anything as fact that only a gossip site or a forum post says.

The short version

Swastika Mukherjee has been at the centre of several disputes over 25 years. Some ended in court outcomes, one was a reported affidavit about her own earlier complaint, and some are still unresolved. Calling anyone a liar is a conclusion for a court, so this page lists what is reported and how well it is sourced.

1. The dowry and cruelty complaint against her first husband (1990s to 2010)

  • Wikipedia says she married Promit Sen in 1998 and that the marriage was unhappy. She filed cruelty and dowry charges against him; Wikipedia states the charges were later dismissed and he was acquitted, citing a Calcutta Telegraph report of June 2000 and a 2009 interview. We could not open those sources or find the court record, so treat the outcome as reported, not verified by us (Wikipedia).
  • The reported affidavit: an IBNS report datelined 23 September, reproduced on a legal forum, said she apparently submitted an affidavit at a city court calling her charges under IPC sections 498A and 406 “unfounded, false, baseless and speculative”, and then held a press conference. The year is not on the page; the first reply to the post is dated October 2010 (Lawyers Club India forum). We could not find the original IBNS page or the affidavit, and we found no quote from her explaining it.
  • The same report quotes her husband’s elder brother Pritam Sen saying “We went through hell for the past ten years”. That is his statement.
  • Wikipedia also says Sen’s brother later sued her for damages in the Calcutta High Court and that she was held liable for 7.7 crore rupees, citing a Telegraph report headlined “Actress loses appeal in Rs 7.7 crore case”. We could not locate that report, so this is unverified.

2. Threats and a fake quote (2020)

She said a journalist had falsely attributed a quote to her after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Kolkata Police arrested two people over rape and acid-attack threats against her, including a journalist accused of publishing the fake quote, and she thanked the police (Deccan Herald). We found no report of a verdict.

3. The Shibpur complaint (2023)

She filed a police complaint over threatening emails she attributed to a co-producer of Shibpur; his lawyer denied involvement. We found no court outcome. See our article on the Shibpur dispute.

4. The FIR over 2021 social media posts (reported 2026)

Wikipedia says an FIR was registered at Gariahat police station over posts from May 2021 by Parambrata Chatterjee and a reply by her, on a complaint by an advocate. She has given her statement to police and Parambrata has asked the Calcutta High Court to quash it. We found no outcome.

What we did not use

We did not use gossip-site profiles of her relationships. Their claims have no named, checkable source or court record.
