Disclaimer Some YouTube reviewers say they removed their DeSu7 reviews after receiving notices that cited a court order (Rupam's Review, 16 Oct 2026). Because some critical reviews are no longer online, the reviews you can still find may lean more positive than the full range of opinion. Read every review with that in mind. Checked on 28 October 2026. Certificates come from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for films released in cinemas, and from the platform itself for web series.

People searching for “A certificate Bengali movies” or “adult Bengali web series” usually want to know how strong a film is. The certificate is the first, official answer. This page explains what each label means and shows two recent Bengali releases.

The CBFC categories for films

The Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 2024, notified on 15 March 2024, kept three categories and split one into three age tiers:

  • U: suitable for everyone.
  • UA 7+, UA 13+ and UA 16+: the old UA category divided by age. These age markers are advisory: parental guidance, not a legal bar.
  • A: restricted to adults.
  • S: restricted to a particular profession or class, such as doctors. It is rare.

Two Puja 2026 examples

Both certificates let teenagers in with an adult’s guidance. Neither is an adults-only film.

Web series and OTT: five age labels

Streaming platforms are not certified by the CBFC. Under India’s IT Rules 2021, platforms must classify their own content into five categories: U, U/A 7+, U/A 13+, U/A 16+ and A (adult). Content rated 13+ or above must have parental locks, and “A” content must have reliable age verification (Daily Excelsior and MediaNama, 2021). We have not verified the current rating of individual Hoichoi, ZEE5 or Klikk series, so check the label on the platform before watching.

Why bold films often get UA 16+ or A

The board looks at sex, nudity, violence, language and themes together. A film with strong language or sexual scenes can still get UA 16+ if the treatment is not graphic, while explicit scenes move it to A. A refusal is rarer: see controversial Bengali movies for films that were refused or cut.
