Dev (দেব) Girlfriend and Dating History: Rukmini Maitra (রুক্মিণী মৈত্র) and Every Relationship on Record

The short answer. Dev (দেব), born Deepak Adhikari on 25 December 1982, is widely reported as a couple with the actress Rukmini Maitra (রুক্মিণী মৈত্র; she now writes her surname Maitr). Neither has announced a wedding, and Dev has never said otherwise in anything we could find. No marriage is on record.

Before any off-screen name was attached to Dev, the pairing everyone talked about was Dev and Subhashree Ganguly, whose films together made them one of Tollywood’s most talked about jodis. Fans wanted it to be real. In a Times of India piece of 26 June 2011 the headline carried her answer: “Dev & I? We’re just good friends: Subhashree”. We found nothing later from either of them describing a relationship. Status: not a relationship, by her account.

They are still a screen pair, seven films together so far, including Dhumketu and DeSu7. A screen pairing is not evidence of anything off screen, and we do not suggest one.

Chapter 2: Rukmini Maitra (রুক্মিণী মৈত্র), 2014 to now

2014 to 2016: first reports

The earliest items we found are in the Times of India. On 10 September 2014 it ran “OMG: Dev ready to settle down with his girlfriend!”, describing Rukmini as his girlfriend. On 6 June 2016 came “Dev is my best friend: Rukmini Maitra”, and on 30 September 2016 another story again called her his girlfriend. On 7 November 2016 the paper quoted Dev in a headline: “I can’t deny that Rukmini is my pillar of strength”. Those are the words attributed to him; they describe support, not a declaration. Wikipedia’s own infobox dates the relationship from 2017, without a citation, so sources disagree on the start by about three years. Status: reported.

2022: “When will Dev marry Rukmini?”

On 28 April 2022 the Times of India (Sankha Ghosh) asked in a headline when Dev would marry Rukmini. It is a question, not an announcement. This is the piece Wikipedia cites for the relationship.

What the two have said about marriage

Asked about marriage plans in an older Bollywood Bubble interview, Dev answered, “Someday, of course I will.” In a Sangeet Bangla interview (the date is unclear in the version we read) a fan asked Rukmini when they would marry. As reported by Durant Barta, she replied that it is not possible to say who will marry whom, and when, and that the couple would surprise everyone once people stopped asking. Neither answer sets a date. Status: no plan announced.

Breakup talk

Asianet Newsable reported speculation that the two had split after Rukmini unfollowed Dev on Instagram. The same report noted that she suggested it could be a technical glitch, and that the two were still seen together at a Kolkata Film Festival event (Asianet Newsable). We found no confirmed breakup. Status: speculation, not confirmed.

March 2026: the mehendi report

Bollywood Shaadis reported in March 2026 that the two shared mehendi photos on Instagram and headlined it as Dev getting married to Rukmini (Bollywood Shaadis). We found no second outlet and no statement from either of them. Status: unverified. We do not treat it as a marriage.

May 2026: a name change

On 11 May 2026 Hindustan Times Bangla reported that Rukmini announced on social media that she had changed her surname from Maitra to Maitr. The report did not give a reason. Nothing links it to her relationship and we do not suggest it.

No marriage by Dev is recorded on his Wikipedia page and we found none confirmed by him.

Questions people ask

Who is Dev’s girlfriend?

Media reports have linked him with the actress Rukmini Maitra (রুক্মিণী মৈত্র) since at least 2014. We found no formal statement from either of them describing the relationship.

Is Dev married?

No marriage is on record. A March 2026 report of a wedding was unverified.

Did Dev date Subhashree Ganguly?

They are Tollywood’s best known screen pair. In 2011 she said they were just good friends, and we found no later statement.

Are Dev and Rukmini still together?

A breakup was speculated after an Instagram unfollow and not confirmed. They were seen together afterwards, per the same report.
